Tyrus is a Muun and a member of a wealthy and influential family dynasty known for its successes in banking, finance, and mining. Muun society is a meritocracy where one’s worth is entirely estimated based on their intellect and accomplishments. The Muun prize education and status above all. They are cautious, calculating, and disciplined. They can also be ambitious and merciless. Only those that rise to the top of their highly conformist society are deemed worth of respect, while those that fail to make the grade are treated with contempt. They spoke of honor and the sanctity of the contract, but this was sanitized through the illusion that Muun would guide, develop, and protect other worlds. In disappointing reality, however, they would often merely use their cunning and superior negotiation skills to exploit them.
The Muun tend to dislike direct confrontation and rather prefer employing subversive influence and complex political machinations by proxy. Survival and success in his family has always been costly to Tyrus. Since he was adept at navigating this ruthless meritocracy, he was rewarded by his family with riches and responsibility. This made him a target of intrigue and jealousy, not only from his rivals but also from within his own family.
His first test when coming-of-age was to manage a mining colony given to him by his Mother. His shrewd management skills brought him great success however his father secretly went to great lengths to sabotage this success. His father engineered a virus to decimate the local population on this mining colony and sent the viral vector to do its dirty deed. Tyrus was warned of this plan by his Mother. Infuriated at this betrayal by his Patriarch, Tyrus engineered a method to make this plan backfire. First, he had an anti-virus created which saved the lives of the workers on the mining colony. Then, while Tyrus’ father was having a tryst with his concubine, Tyrus poisoned his father’s Cerulean Ale with the very same virus used against his mining colony. The deception worked and Tyrus’ father perished in an agonizing manner.
In true Muun fashion, however, the wheels of deception spun dizzyingly. Upon the Patriarch being removed at Tyrus’ hand, his Mother was now free to work her nefarious plans. Disgusted by Tyrus’ clandestine same-sex relationship with an honorable and kind Priest of the Guiding Hand, she swiftly had this lover assassinated. When Tyrus discovered his lovers’ murder, he also found records implicating his Mother was in fact the source of the virus attack on his mining colony. He confronted his Mother and she lashed at him with a derisive tirade against his display of gullible weakness. She admitted she engineered the entire ruse to have Tyrus murder his father and allow her to seize the family fortunes. Blinded with rage, Tyrus’ natural affinity for the force manifested in a tempestuous fury. His innate gift, the power of mental Influence, pulsed outward with such unbridled might that her head literally ruptured in a gory explosion. Disgraced and fearing exposure for his gifts in the Force, he fled his Dynasty and left to pursue the only lead he had to explain his powers… the strange dreams which afflicted him of late.
